Matthieu Roffé

Born on 8 April 1983 in Thionville (57 - France). Starts at Metz National Conservatory in classical piano at 6 years. Admitted to the jazz department at the Conservatory of Metz in 2001 in the piano class of Mario Stantchev in 2006 he obtained his degree studies at the Conservatory of Music jazz Metz and in 2007 its jazz State diploma before entering the CRR in Paris class Emil Spanyi to Paris where he is currently installed.
In September 2009, under the leadership of Emil Spanyi, he was recruited by the Jazz Department of the Conservatory of Lausanne directed by George Robert as a piano teacher and ensembles, and from November 2010 to June 2011 became dean of educational pre section -professionnelle of the School of Jazz and Current Music (EJMA) in Lausanne. Both positions are abandoned in June 2011 to persevere in his musical career.
Curious, constantly requesting new experience to perfect his individuality and progress in the field of art, it incorporates many officiants projects in various artistic worlds (companion of a theater company in 1996, participation in various jazz quartet since 2003 (Gianez Lawrence Quartet, AART Quartet with which it occurs particularly in Millau jazz Festival in 2006 opening for Louis Winsberg and Commercy jazz Festival in 2007). in 2008 he co-founded with Matthew Durmarque MTX Quartet.
It is also part of the quartet of the extraordinary Japanese flutist Yuriko Kimura, whose tinted original compositions from musical traditions of his homeland are a valuable source of inspiration. A tour of 35 concerts scheduled in Japan duet flute / piano with Yuriko in September 2013 and November/December 2014.
Since 2009, and in order to satisfy his passion for instrumental timbres, he realizes a lifelong dream by undertaking the direction of an orchestra, the Systematik Endectet now the Matthew Roffé Orchestra, composed of 11 musicians in which he is the leader, composer and arranger (Concerts at Brunnenhof Trier jazz Festival in Germany in August 2010, concert at the Blenod Pont-à-Mousson (France, 54) in December 2010).
This training is supported by the association "Collective for Dissemination of Creative Music (CDMC)" which aims to work on access to the largest number of projects whose creativity and originality are placed first.

 

In parallel, since February 2011, he joined the Swiss group of international renown No Square with whom he recorded the album "The Laws of the Instant" produced by the Altrisuoni label in December 2012 and participated in the creation of music of a play entitled Yoko-Ni with the company the "Voyages Extraordinaires" on a topic on virtual reality and the world of video games (35 performances between January and March 2012 and tour in January / February 2013). A South American tour group gave the opportunity to perform for a month in summer 2012 in Argentina, Chile and Uruguay. A new South American tour including Brazil is scheduled for the summer of 2013 and a tour in Oceania and China at the end of 2013.
The meeting with Matteo Pastorino, the excellent Italian clarinetist in 2010 was decisive and led to the creation of a quartet with musicians Jean-Baptiste Pinet exceptions to the battery and Bertrand Beruard bass. The group won the first prize at the contest Saint Germain des Prés in Paris in May 2012 and was conducted in April 2013 recording her first album "V" (Socadisc).

The extraordinary meeting with the drummer and bassist Thomas Delor Varaillon Damien gave him the idea to establish for the first time a trio focused on the love of chamber music and counterpoint. Trio in which the requirement is shared equally between improvisation and composition. First album in 2015.
